Selangor walks the talk on sustainability, poised for ‘greatness’, says Exco

Jamaliah cited Entomal and FatHopes Energy — alumni of Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation’s (Sidec) Selangor Accelerator Programme — as evidence of the state’s dedication to net zero business models.

“Entomal specialises in sustainable bio-waste treatment using the black soldier fly, while FatHopes Energy focuses on sustainable solutions for advanced biofuel production through the processing of fat, oil, and grease.

“These pioneering initiatives underscore the innovative potential within Sidec’s startups to contribute significantly to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

“These examples demonstrate that achieving net zero is possible in Malaysia through a combination of innovative technologies and sustainable design. Malaysian smart cities can learn from these examples and implement similar projects to reduce their carbon footprint and promote sustainable development.”

Separately, Jamaliah said Selangor also aims to take the lead in biotechnology, which holds the promise of revolutionising healthcare, agriculture, and environmental conservation.
